Make a launch campaign from one brief

A small team turns a product brief into copy, a banner, a social picture and a voiceover in a few minutes.

The team that writes your code can also tell people about it.
  • a product launch
  • a release announcement
  • a conference talk trailer

CodeAF teams are not limited to code. Members can draw pictures and speak text aloud with the same plain words they use for everything else. In this playbook a three-person team makes a launch campaign from a one-page brief: a copywriter goes first, then an artist and a voice work at the same time from the copy, and the manager hands you a folder with every file.

Steps

Our repository, launch, holds only PRODUCT.md: Driftwood, a pocket e-ink note-taker, its price, its audience and its tone.

  1. In the folder, run codeaf and send any first message, for example "Read PRODUCT.md and tell me in two lines who Driftwood is for."
  2. Press Alt+V, Space on the conversation, then S. Name the team campaign and press Enter.
  3. Press Esc, then Alt+2. Press Alt+↑, move to campaign with ↓, press Enter, then Shift+M.
  4. Send the manager the brief:
You manage campaign, the launch team for Driftwood (see PRODUCT.md). Call team_start three times now to hire @copy, @art and @voice. @copy writes campaign/COPY.md first: one headline, three taglines and a 30-second voiceover script, in the tone PRODUCT.md asks for. When @copy reports, send @art and @voice their work at the same time: @art draws a 16:9 banner (campaign/banner.png) and a 1:1 social post (campaign/square.png) that fit the headline; @voice reads the script aloud and saves it as campaign/voiceover.mp3. When all three report, write campaign/README.md listing every file with one line each, and tell me in five lines what we have.

What you see

The manager starts all three, keeps @art and @voice waiting until the copy exists, then says Copy is done and the other two are now running in parallel. In our run @voice landed first, a 29-second reading of the script, then @art with both pictures, the headline set in the image. The five lines listed the headline, "A pocket of quiet for the thoughts worth keeping.", the three taglines and the script in COPY.md, the banner (2048 by 1152) and the square (2048 by 2048), the voiceover, and the README, and noted that the tone held across all of them.

In our run

About three minutes from the brief to the finished folder. The team and pictures cost $0.34, $0.14 of it the two pictures; the voiceover cost under a cent.

Make it yours

  • Change the deliverables. Ask for music under the voiceover or a short video from the banner; members use the same plain words. See Pictures, voice and music.
  • Keep the order. The line that makes @art and @voice wait for the copy is what keeps every file saying the same thing.
  • Review before it ships. Everything lands as files in campaign/. Ask the manager for a second round on any one of them, and only that member works again.
