Budgets at every level
Walk away from a fleet of agents knowing what each part of it can spend.
Autonomy needs limits you trust. Set the money once, at every level, and let the work run.
- $50 a day
- $5 a task
- $5 a day for one team
CodeAF puts a limit at every level work happens: the day, each conversation, each task and each team. Every model call is priced as it is made, including the calls a specialist such as senior-dev makes, so each limit is checked against real spend rather than an estimate after the fact. Each limit says in its own words what happens when it is reached.

What each limit does
The day limit covers work that runs without you: once today's spend reaches it, codeaf do and standing orders start nothing new. It is $500 until you change it.
The conversation limit is off until you set one with /budget conversation 5. When a conversation reaches it, the turn in flight finishes and no new turn starts: CodeAF says conversation limit reached with what was spent, and your message stays yours to send again.
The task limit is $5 for each task unless you change it in /crew. Every priced call of the task is held to it, and a crew that would cost more is swapped for a cheaper one before it starts. A senior-dev run has its own ceiling, by default $10 and 3 hours.
Team caps stay yours
A team can carry a daily cap that covers the team and every team under it as one pool. When the team reaches it, members finish their current turn and nothing new starts. You are asked once, storefront reached its $5 cap today, with two answers: Raise to $10 or Stop for today. A manager can never raise a cap; that decision is always yours.
Things to build
- A $1 ceiling for exploring:
/budget conversation 1on a chat where you try ideas: at the limit the turn finishes, no new one starts, and your message waits to be sent again. - A side project at $5 a day: a daily cap on its team: when it is reached, members finish their turn and you get one card, Raise to $10 or Stop for today.
- Small fixes under 50 cents each:
/crew cap task 0.5, and every task runs on a crew that fits under it. Pareto crewing - A cron job that cannot overspend: set
/budget 20and callcodeaf dofrom your scheduler: once today's spend reaches the limit, it starts nothing and says why.
